Prozac (fluoxetine) was the first SSRI to hit the market and remains one of the most commonly prescribed antidepressants. At Next Step Psychiatry in Lilburn, we help patients understand how this medication might help with anxiety disorders.

How Prozac Works

Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It blocks the reabsorption of serotonin in your brain, making more available to regulate mood and anxiety. It may also promote neuroplasticity—your brain's ability to form new connections.
